Katherine Sims

What is your vision for Vermont's early care and education system, and how would you propose funding this system?

I will fight to increase access to high-quality, affordable childcare. Access to childcare is a family support, preventative health, education, gender equity, and economic development issue. I will work to expand support for existing high-quality public and community-based programs. Specific priorities that I will be focused on advancing include 1) increasing wage support for early childhood educators 2) expanding Vermont’s mixed-delivery, publicly-funded pre-K program to a full-day, full-year program 3) increasing Child Care Financial Assistance Program (CCFAP) subsidies for families, and 4) supporting the professional development of early child educators including racial literacy programming.
