Information for Candidates
Right now, Vermont's investment in child care is fueling our economy and powering our workforce. Since Act 76 passed in 2023, hundreds of new child care programs have opened, creating thousands of new spaces for children and hundreds of early childhood educator jobs. Our child care system is growing with over 5,000 additional children and their families now getting access to reduced child care costs through expanded state support, with many households saving hundreds or thousands of dollars each month. This progress has been life-changing for many Vermonters - but it is not guaranteed. That's why the 2026 election is so important as it will determine Vermont's child care future.

Endorsement Process
Let’s Grow Kids Action Network (LGKAN) is a non-partisan organization that endorses candidates who are committed to ensuring that all Vermont children and families have access to quality, affordable child care. LGKAN strives to create an endorsement process that is open and non-partisan. For the 2026 election cycle, LGKAN will only be endorsing candidates in the general election.
Candidates will be assessed according to the following criteria:
- Legislative voting record;
- Response to a candidate questionnaire;
- Results of candidate interview, as needed; and
- Commitment to child care in platforms and on the campaign trail.
